Aboriginal Services - Making Tracks Family Worker
Making Tracks is a two year program funded by Better Futures and is an early intervention strategy designed to engage Aboriginal students in their learning by giving them the opportunity to learn through hands-on projects with an Aboriginal perspective. The overall aim of the project is to engage Aboriginal students in their schooling and see them gain their School Certificate or Higher School Certificate. See the Making Tracks menu item, for more information about the school-based side of the program.
A major component of the project is Family Support. Family support is aimed at enabling Parents to be more active in their child’s education. Family members are encouraged through various activities and ways to be more involved in their child’s education. The Project also aims to improve linkages between the school and the families and to promote good patterns of school attendance.
Alice Hinton-Bateup is the Making Tracks Schools Worker - she looks after the school side of the program.
Carolyn Gilbert is the person who is looking after the Family Support side of the program. She is working out of the Cranebrook Neighbourhood Centre. You can call her on 47 293 028.
